Hm. Blogdrive can't make up its mind whether my blog post exists or not. It's playing "Look! Now I'm here!" and then, "Whoops, guess I'm not." So let's pretend that the post exists.
That it's a very interesting post. Pulitzer prize winning material.
That it has lots of interesting pictures. Look! A pink bunny doing a jig in an ugly top hat!
Let's also pretend you enjoyed it very much.
.......
Oh bother. I'm going to study.

I'm here. That only means that I've a major exam coming up and need to blog out my anxiety. On writing I've never caught on to the secret of descriptive writing due to my matter of fact nature. If I write about a character, I would state their emotion and what their action is exactly instead of showing through the creative use of metaphor and related descriptions. I also start to feel incredibly 'fake' if I try to increase the verbosity of my sentences. Hence, I tend to admire people who can like Chihori and Virginia Woolf. I read Woolf's Mrs Dalloway, I think she took about 14 pages just describing how Mrs Dalloway got to the Pall Mall. In uni, they encourage the matter-of-fact style. Clarity over confusion. The fewer words, the better. Topic sentence, elaboration, example/evidence. Not very conducive for creative expression. Gah! Even my diary entries are starting to look like notes. Oh noes, university is dampening my senses and killing my creativity! <--- Excuses of course. If you truly love doing something, obstacles like this won't stop you. Fandom activity I may have become slightly overly obsessed with Fantastic Children. I'm currently compiling an annotation list of Nakamura's possible sources of inspiration for the anime. Unrewarding work, I know. I believe my devotion to this series is partly because its English fandom base is so small. I feel that I'll be able to move on once there are enough fans to propagate it. Most of the fans I've come across are hardcore Thoma fans. This irks me a little especially if they make comments about disliking Helga. Yes, he's the perfect boyfriend/lover/husband etc, so? And what is it with me and going against the majority? Why is it with the exception of Sanzo, all my favourite characters play secondary roles? Education I've ceased questioning if I'm in the right field anymore. I'm either going to become an excellent practitioner or going into research and making an equally good difference. What is scary is that although I'm a student(which is a paradox considering my chosen profession) my line of thinking is increasingly empathising with those of my teachers. I'm afraid that the decisions I make will be influenced more by the ease of convention than by its learning effectiveness. Other questions I have, we learn so many theories but how many are truly applicable? More research definitely needs to be done for the Malaysian context. Also, even if such research is done, who would actually make use of it (besides professors in universities who aren't doing the actual fieldwork anyway)?

Because I'm slow at things like these...
Still.. what on earth?
Sherlock Holmes movie set for release in 2010 with Robert Downey Jr.(Ironman), as Sherlock Holmes and wait for it..
Jude Law as Dr. Watson.
I know I haven't exactly been paying attention to all my fandoms
and
their developments lately. What with the Fullmetal Alchemist manga's
plot going into high gear with the final confrontation between humans
and humonculi (they've actually started production on a second season
for anime! *glee*), Bleach's plot becoming horribly stale, having no
access to the fourth season of House MD, and my recently revived
interest in the unjustly ignored Fantastic Children... Sherlock Holmes
only comes back into the picture when I am under duress from impending
exams and have to reread the entire canon again. And check the online
scene. And discover this piece of news.
THAT is one piece of information that really throws you off your feet, well mine anyway. It's even more
jarring than Madonna being casted in the parody version of Sherlock
Holmes. Come to think of it, it's her husband who's directing this other movie. Why the sudden
interest?
Anyway, I have nothing against Jude Law, he is aesthetically pleasing,
and I honestly hope he does a good job as Watson and doesn't mangle the
character any further. I also wonder about the suitably of Downey Jr. as Holmes. Their previous works and images they've represented just doesn't gel with my perception of the SH characters right now. Oh well, everyone's a critic. From what I understand, they seem to be trying
to raise the characters' appeal factor, I quote, " this will be a sexier, more action-packed Holmes" something like David Craig's James Bond, perhaps? Wonder how succesful they will be?
Other points of interest
You only have to take a look at all the SH forums to see a lot of
people up in arms over the fact that Holmes will have a love interest
in the film. None other than Irene Adler. And this is all based on an upcoming comic. What comic? Huh?
I hope Guy Ritchie knows what's he's doing. It's hard to reinvent the wheel after all.

Greatest irony of the year. RIKL wanted to celebrate Hari Raya at the Prime Minister's open house. Besides being free, there was the added advantage that the open house would be held within the vicinity of most RIKL members. So began the task of inviting members, collecting contact details and arranging transport. And then yesterday, they announced: "The PM is holding his Open House in Kedah this year." The irony is that I've been unable to attend a lot of RIKL activities because Kedah is precisely where I've been studying for the past year. *headdesk* Anyway, that was news item one. News item two was the recent melamine scare over milk products from China. When I received the news I was Me: *chews Snickers bar* The following items have been recalled due to China's milk scandal; M&M's, Snickers, Mento's yogurt bottle etc.. Me: Hm. Milk scandal. *chews some more* Wow, chocolate also involved. If you have any of these items at home don't eat them. Me: Don't eat? *rereads* have been recalled ... M&M's, Snickers, Mento's yoghurt Me: *realises what I'm eating. Checks ingredients label.* Label: Product of China Me: ... *resumes eating*
So if anyone notices any mental retardedness on my part it's all the fault of melamine. But seriously, how could I not eat it? It's not exactly cheap, I bought it very recently to celebrate the completion of all major coursework assignments, I've been denying myself chocolate for a month, and the amount of melamine contained in 20g bar of chocolate couldn't be possibly that great to cause serious harm right? Right? <--melamine has already damaged this poor child's mind That aside, Selamat Hari Raya to all who celebrate it!
